Former welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter will be fighting at the T-Mobile Arena on August 26, but he won’t be on the Mayweather-McGregor pay-per-view undercard. Instead, Porter will headline a preliminary fights card airing live on FOX, facing Thomas Dulorme.
Porter (27-2-1, 17 KO) is coming off of a stoppage win over Andre Berto on April 22, which followed a 10-month layoff after a competitive decision loss to Keith Thurman. The 29-year-old Ohio native is the mandatory challenger for Thurman’s WBC title, but with Thurman on the shelf after surgery, he wants to stay sharp. There has also been talk of a potential meeting with Danny Garcia this fall.
Dulorme (24-2, 16 KO) was once seen as a serious prospect at 140 pounds, but the Puerto Rican never quite got over the hump, losing at welterweight to Luis Carlos Abregu in 2012, and then at 140 to Terence Crawford in 2015. Now 27, Dulorme still has youth on his side, but there seems to be a ceiling for his talent, and we’ve likely reached it.
