Tony Bellew confident he beats Andre Ward

Tony Bellew continues to deliberate his next move following his big upset over heavyweight David Haye in March. And as Haye continues to rehabilitate from his torn achilles tendon, Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) has been entertaining the thought of taking on Andre Ward, who himself is coming of a big win in his rematch with Sergey Kovalev.

Speaking on the prospective fights he has on the table, Bellew tells Sky Sports:

"We are a little bit further on with talks with Andre Ward, and Eddie [Hearn] is talking to David Haye, so I've got a choice to make between one of the two.

"I like the thought of going in with the pound-for-pound king of the world, I really do, but I am not foolish or stupid enough to know there isn't unfinished business with David Haye.”

But as it pertains to a fight with Andre Ward, Bellew believes he’s just too beastly for Ward to handle.

"I know I can beat Andre Ward. People are writing me off automatically straight away, but I am too big and too strong [for him].”

Ironically enough, that’s the exact same sentiment everyone had about Haye facing Bellew when that fight was originally announced. But with Ward now being the #1 P4P fighter in the sport, Bellew wonders what that might make him if he’s able to put the beats on Ward...
