When Amir Khan isn’t airing out his dirty laundry on social media for the entire world to see — in rather embarrassing fashion — he’s talking about his future in boxing.
Khan has recently been recovering from a long-standing hand injury (which has now been surgically repaired twice), and heartbreak (which has now been repaired by foreign models), and tells WBN that he hopes to be back in action by November or December. Khan hasn’t fought since getting sparked by Canelo Alvarez in May of 2016.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the ring and with all the stuff that’s gone on in my career, there’s been a lot ups and downs, with the hand operation and the divorce of my wife. I think I’m going to have a tune up fight, get moving on and take it on there.”
Khan goes on to mention that he’d like to fight in UK again, but that backdoor politics on the UK boxing scene, namely Eddie Hearn, has made that difficult.
“We’ll see what happens it’s juts a shame that I don’t get on with Eddie Hearn, if there was some respect between us then I would have loved to fight here more often and have done something with Eddie Hearn’s team but the thing is, it doesn’t make sense because they just talk s***.
“Every time we try to make fights, for example the Kell Brook fight it’s just gone to s*** really because these people just want to try and rip you off. I’ve been in the game a long time and they just try to mug you off, it’s very disrespectful.”
Khan concluded by stating that he’d only like to work with Frank Warren at this point — saying that he’s always been fair to him — and that he’d like to bring a big-name American fighter to the UK for an event, mentioning Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and Keith Thurman as his targeted foes.
