If a boxing match between Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi were to happen, at least one sportsbook has already installed Malignaggi as a solid favorite.
Bovada has listed Malignaggi at -225, with McGregor at +175. How money came in after that would obviously affect the odds, and my feeling is you’d see a lot of money pour in for McGregor if he were to even look passable against Floyd Mayweather on August 26.
For note, the fight would have to take place in 2017 for bets placed now to have action, but if you want, yeah, you can put something down on this now with Bovada if you feel like it. It’s unlikely it would take place in 2017, of course, as McGregor is fighting in 10 days against Mayweather, after which he’s stated he plans to relax and count his money.
The McGregor-Malignaggi sideshow has been probably about as famous as Malignaggi, 36, has ever been in his career, and that comes as an ostensibly retired fighter. Malignaggi retired from active competition earlier this year after a KO loss to Sam Eggington, finishing his career 4-4 over his last eight fights from 2013-17.
