The ‘Axe Man’ has officially be axed from tomorrow night’s ESPN card headlined by Terence Crawford vs. Julius Indongo. Top Rank’s VP Carl Moretti broke the news to ESPN, saying that the scheduled 8-rounder between Nicholas Walters and Arturo Santos had to be canceled as Walters is too sick to fight.

"Walters is off the show. He called us and told us he had a 101 degree temperature and was sick all weekend," Moretti said. "He said his family has been sick and he caught it. He didn't get better over the weekend and he sounded like a guy who had a 101 degree temperature, so I told him to do what you have to do to get better and we'll reschedule for later in the year."

Walters hasn’t fought since getting stopped by Vasyl Lomachenko late last year where some fans believed he simply quit after realizing he couldn’t cope with Lomachenko’s skills. Walters was losing badly on points, but he didn’t appear to be taking a ton of physical damage at the time of the stoppage — so that irked at least some fans.
