Top Rank’s latest installment of Camp Life is back, this time focused on Vasyl Lomachenko as he prepares to face Miguel Marriaga on ESPN this Saturday.
The first episode kicks off on Lomachenko’s 71st day of training camp, being awoken by manager Egis Klimas to start a day of training. Lomachenko asks ‘is it time?’ which is surely was, and Loma is right out of bed, getting cleaned up as he prepares to go to work. Loma eats breakfast (fruit, oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs) to go along with a cup of coffee, and then he’s on his way.
By 11am Lomachenko is at The Boxing Laboratory, going through strength and conditioning workouts that are specifically designed for him. Loma also goes through some footwork drills, which he appears to nail effortlessly.
Then, by 1pm, Lomachenko is back at Casa Loma, working with his mental conditioning coach on some breathing drills before an afteroon meal. By 5:30pm he’s already back at the gym, working on a technique system created by his father.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk then makes a cameo appearance and talks briefly about the benefits of them all training together.
Finally, in the evening Lomachenko takes us through his down time, which consists of him taking part a few puzzle-like exercises for ‘mind flexibility.’ Quite frankly it’s not like anything I’ve seen before in a training camp, but it’s said to help him maintain complete focus after being physically drained.
