No, this isn’t an championship fight, but there will still be a belt on the line for this Saturday’s big event between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. In fact the WBC has aptly named it’s new belt, which will be awarded to the winner of Mayweather-McGregor, the ‘Money Belt.’
According to the WBC, this custom made trinket has been designed to include 1.5 kilos of 24 karat magic gold, 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, and 160 emeralds all draped upon a strap of crocodile leather. Fancy, fancy.
The actual purpose of this belt, I don’t know. But the WBC does love making belts for novelty events. Aside from the sanctioning body recently creating the Cinco De Mayo belt for Canelo-Chavez Jr., the WBC also created a special commemorative belt for Mayweather-Pacquiao back in 2015 — the emereld belt. And that’s of course not even including the WBC’s silver belt, diamond belt, onyx belt, and every other kind of belt you can think of. Everybody’s a winner!
