Gervonta Davis’ fight with Francisco Fonseca is still happening on tomorrow night’s Mayweather-McGregor pay-per-view, but only Fonseca will be eligible to leave with the IBF super featherweight title.

Davis (18-0, 17 KO) has been stripped of the belt after failing to make weight for the showdown earlier today. The 21-year-old Mayweather Promotions fighter came in at 132 pounds officially, two pounds over the limit.

Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KO) can still win the title if he scores the big upset.

Davis tweeted about missing the weight:

Davis had been talking about moving up to lightweight, which was inevitable, but you always hate to see it go down like this. Even if you take it for what it likely is — Davis’ body just unable to get down to 130 despite his best efforts — it vacates a belt and leaves his opponent in a lousy position.

The fight is scheduled to go on just before Mayweather-McGregor, positioned as the final undercard bout of Saturday evening’s card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, on Showtime pay-per-view.
