Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will rake in huge money at a bare minimum for tonight’s Showtime pay-per-view main event, as Mayweather is guaranteed at least $100 million for the fight, and McGregor will make what is by far a career-high at $30 million guaranteed.
The guarantee is the same that Mayweather had for his 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao, and in the end he walked away with about $250 million because of how well the event did, not just breaking but obliterating all previous revenue records.
If tonight’s fight does what some believe it can do, topping Mayweather-Pacquiao for gate and pay-per-view revenue, then Mayweather will probably make around that once again.
McGregor’s total take is expected to fly past $100 million, too, if the promotion is the success that it probably will be.
Reported undercard purses:
- Gervonta Davis ($600,000) vs Francisco Fonseca ($35,000) — Fonseca will probably receive part of Davis’ purse after Davis missed weight
- Nathan Cleverly ($100,000) vs Badou Jack ($750,000)
- Andrew Tabiti ($100,000) vs Steve Cunningham ($100,000)
- Yordenis Ugas ($50,000) vs Thomas Dulorme ($75,000)
