The rumored fight between Tureano Johnson and Sergiy Derevyanchenko is official for August 25 on FS1, the night before Mayweather-McGregor, according to a report at ESPN.com.
The two middleweights will be meeting in an IBF eliminator, ordered back in May. Lou DiBella will promote the PBC card, after winning a purse bid. The IBF title is currently held by Gennady Golovkin, and will be up for grabs against Canelo Alvarez on September 16.
"Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Tureano Johnson are two of the top middleweights in the world," DiBella said. "This is a great opportunity on a big (platform) for Derevyanchenko to prove that he belongs with the elite fighters at 160 pounds."
Derevyanchenko (10-0, 8 KO) has been a force since turning pro in 2014, and now the 31-year-old looks to take the final step toward a world title shot. Johnson (20-1, 14 KO) has been banging around the edges of a title opportunity for a bit now, going back to his controversial loss to Curtis Stevens in 2014. He’s won six straight.
The fight will take place at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.
