Two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields is back in action tonight, as the Flint, Michigan, native takes a trip down the road to Detroit, where she’ll meet Nikki Adler of Germany, in Shields’ first world title fight as a professional.
Shields (3-0, 1 KO) has looked good thus far in her pro career, and the fact she’s already in a world title fight is really no surprise. With her high level amateur experience, she came into the pro ranks nearly ready off the bat.
Adler (16-0, 9 KO) holds the WBC super middleweight title (the vacant IBF belt is also on the line). While she has more pro experience, she hasn’t faced a lot — if any — competition with Shields’ skills, either.
In the co-feature, Vladimir Tikhonov (16-0, 9 KO) of Russia will face Jesse Adler (8-1, 6 KO) in an eight-round super bantamweight bout.
The fights start tonight at 10:30 pm ET. Join us!
