Chris Eubank Jr. may be the big name, but Avni Yildrim will get something of a hometown advantage in their World Boxing Super Series matchup. The two are officially scheduled to fight on October 7th in Stuttgart, Germany.
Ten out of Yildrim’s sixteen fights have taken place in Germany, while Eubank has fought outside of England just once.
Eubank (25-1, 19 KO) earned his spot in the tournament with a one-sided decision over Arthur Abraham for the IBO super middleweight title. The fight snapped a six-fight stoppage streak, but marked Eubank’s second victory since moving up from 160.
Yildrim (16-0, 10 KO) spent around half his career at or around light heavyweight before making the drop to 168 in 2016. He earned the biggest win of his career three months ago, a decision over veteran Marco Antonio Periban in the latter’s native Mexico.
Anyone think Germany’s infamous favoritism will make a difference, or can Eubank deliver enough punishment to remove any doubt?
