Saunders-Monroe Jr: Final Press Conference

Things got a little awkward during the final presser for Billy Joe Saunders vs. Willie Monroe Jr.

Tomorrow night’s other middleweight title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Willie Monroe Jr. had its final press conference yesterday and things got a little awkward to say the least.

Things started rather normally, but about halfway through Saunders began taunting Monroe about “quitting” in his fight against Gennady Golovkin, hammering the point home over and over again. Saunders even pulled out the video of that fight on his cellphone and began playing the commentary into the microphone in an attempt to get inside Monroe’s head.

Monroe would respond by beginning to narrate Saunders’ subconscious as if he were dealing with a lot of insecurities that compelled him to act out publicly. And the whole thing went on for an uncomfortably long period of time.

Then, when things finally got back to some degree of order and coherence, Saunders began talking about how he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez of Gennady Golovkin in order to truly test himself. But Before any of that can become viable, he’ll first have to take care of business tomorrow.
