Canelo-GGG: Canelo Alvarez’s Post-Fight Press Conference

Canelo Alvarez talks about his fight with Gennady Golovkin.

In the aftermath of the controversial draw over the weekend, Canelo Alvarez takes to the podium to share his thoughts and answer some questions about his big fight with Gennady Golovkin.

On if he planned to be mobile in this fight:

“Yes, that was the plan of the fight from the get-go — use the ring, fight in the center of the ring, use the ropes and we did exactly that, what we prepared for.

“The points put aside, we did and we gave boxing what it needed — a great fight tonight.

“[The fans won], absolutely. With this kind of fight, absolutely, boxing wins, the fans win, and if the fans want to see it again — why not, they can see it again.”

On what he thought of the 118-110 scorecard in his favor:

“I didn’t base [my opinion] on a scorecard, I wasn’t taking points round by round but what I am sure of at the end fight is that I won, at least eight rounds of the fight. I have no doubt about it in my mind.”

On if he wants the rematch:

“Right now I want to rest, the rest of the year, and then we’ll sit down with our team and decide what’s to come.”

On Golovkin’s power:

“He has different power from other fighters but he’s not the monster they say he is. I didn’t feel it.”
