Hughie Fury says that his battle with a skin disease called acne conglobata limited him in the past, but now that he’s dealt with the condition, he tells ESPN that he feels fresh and strong ahead of Saturday’s WBO title shot at Joseph Parker.
"That's all behind me now. I’ve got a clean sheet, I feel a different person and a lot stronger. My body wasn't allowing me to do a lot before. It would put me out for two weeks at a time before the fight which was three or four weeks away. I just had to stop because I was worse off for training. I had a skin condition which was poisoning my blood and over the years it has got worse and worse."
Fury (20-0, 10 KO) is 23 and has always had big plans in the boxing game, but just didn’t look like himself in his last fight, and that was 17 months ago, a technical decision win over Fred Kassi.
But if Fury is refreshed and been able to train better than he has in the past, he’s got a good shot in his first world title fight. Parker (23-0, 18 KO) will be on the road in Manchester, and support for Fury should be very strong.
