Tonight at 10 pm ET on HBO, coverage will begin first with the Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin replay from last weekend, and then it’ll be the live main event between WBA lightweight titleholder Jorge Linares and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Luke Campbell.
The previously planned co-feature fight between Antonio Orozco and Roberto Ortiz has been canceled.
Linares (42-3, 27 KO) has held a version of the lightweight title since 2014, first the WBC belt, which he never lost, and now the WBA title. It’s the third division in which he’s been a world champion. The 32-year-old Venezuelan has been a force against British fighters since 2015, beating Kevin Mitchell and then, on two occasions, Anthony Crolla.
Campbell (17-1, 14 KO) will look to turn around the fortunes of his country against Linares, and may have the talent and youth to do it. This is an interesting fight on paper, one that should provide some good action.
Expect the live fight around 11 pm ET, when Patrick L. Stumberg will be on the call for BLH. Join us!
