Signing with Eddie Hearn
“Nobody ever expected me and Eddie to ever work together. It’s a bit of a shock to the world of boxing. But we are working together, a three-fight deal with Sky television and Eddie. It’s all about working together now, having a great partnership, and becoming world champion again, working towards a big world title fight.”
On hashing out past issues with Hearn
“It’s all water under the bridge. Things were said on both sides. It’s all about moving forward now and working together, partnering with each other. No point in holding these grudges. He is the best at what he does, I’m the best at what I do.”
On his plans for 2018
“Two fights this year, and then the goal should be a world title fight. For sure. I really believe I can become world champion again. I’m at the peak of my career. It’s all about making the right moves and making sure I’ve got the right team behind me to get me to that world title fight.”
On Adrien Broner and Kell Brook
“They’re names that can happen. That’s why they’re getting mentioned. That’s another reason I got with Eddie, now these fights are more realistic to happen.”
On the deal with Hearn going forward
“If it goes well, why not continue that? This could be me finishing off my whole boxing career with Eddie Hearn. It doesn’t mean that it’s only three fights. It could be something we finish off all the way until the end.”
On his relationship with former adviser Al Haymon
“Me and Al Haymon are still on good terms. If I fight in America, it could be Al Haymon working alongside us with Eddie. I’ve kept it in a position where I’m always cool with all different kinds of promoters. I keep it professional. It’s a business. We all work together as a team. Let’s see where it takes us.”
