As Tyson Fury continues to clamor for a heavyweight fight with reigning champion Anthony Joshua, he tells the Pound For Pound podcast that he has a bold prediction, as transcribed by ESPN.
“If I get the AJ fight, I’m going to make it a four-round fight.
“Either he’s going to go or I’m going to go. He can’t underestimate my power and my size and strength.
”I want to make it a war. I want to make it a Tommy Hearns vs. Marvin Hagler remake, but in the heavyweight division. Either I’ll go to sleep or he will go to sleep.”
Fury continued by saying he doesn’t even care if it’s him or Joshua that gets knocked out, he’s just going to force the action.
At face-value it’s hard to take this as anymore more than you’re typical bluster, especially since Fury isn’t known to be a come-forward action fighter. But a potential Joshua-Fury fight would be a big deal economically, and therefore shouldn’t be completely written off for this upcoming year.
However Fury will first have to take care of the business of getting his boxing license reinstated by the British Boxing Board of Control, a process he says is already underway.
