Joshua-Parker: Face Off at Opening Presser

Watch Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker face off for the first time at today’s press conference.

As heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker met today in England to formally announce their March 31 unficiation, the fighters got the opportunity to face-off for the first time. You can catch footage of the size-up above, courtesy of Fight Hub TV.

This match-up is an interesting one, and not only because the combatants will be unifying world titles, but also because, stylistically, Parker is expected to give Joshua at least some challenge. Parker’s promoter is obviously hoping for his fighter to do a lot more than just make it competitive, though, and expects to upset the applecart with Parker enforcing his claim as the best heavyweight in the world.

The winner of this fight will hold three of the four major world titles in the historically glorified division, with the final titleholder Deontay Wilder standing in the background shouting about how he wants only one heavyweight champion. That would require an undisputed unification match, and with any sort of luck we might actually get to see that by the end of the year.
