Out of action since July, Manny Pacquiao may make his ring return in April, joining a planned ESPN card featuring Terence Crawford vs. Jeff Horn. Bob Arum tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he intends to hold the show on April 21st at T-Mobile Arena, but faces an obstacle in the form of Las Vegas’ hockey team, the Golden Nights, who “might” need it for the playoffs.
Said playoffs don’t begin until the 11th, so the scheduling could get tricky. As a backup plan, the card could also take place on April 14th at Madison Square Garden.
Pacquiao does not yet have an opponent (it’s not Vasyl Lomachenko) and it remains uncertain whether he will be the main event over Crawford-Horn.
There were once rumblings of Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KO) fighting Crawford on a passing-of-the-torch fight, but Pacquiao is in desperate need of a win at the moment. Now more than eight years removed from his last stoppage victory, Pacquiao did not look elite against Horn whether you think he deserved the win or not. There are winnable fights out there for him, but the clock is definitely ticking.
Anyone got suggestions?
