Today, beginning at 1:00pm ET, Showtime Sports will be live streaming the official weigh-in for Errol Spence’s IBF welterweight title defense against Lamont Peterson. The fight will take place tomorrow night at 9:00pm ET on Showtime, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Spence has been extremely candid about trying to get some of the other top welterweights to step in the ring with him, but says that Lamont Peterson was the only one to accept the offer. And that’s no diss to Peterson, who is far from some bum fighter.
Peterson is actually a very capable boxer — it’s just that he’s come up short a few times on the highest level and is therefore thought to be a least a full level below Spence. But that’s why they fight the fights!
As much of a long-shot it may appear to be for Peterson, so long as he’s prepared himself well just about anything can happen. If he were to pull off the upset here, it would be rather unexpected, but it’s not like we haven’t seen anything like it before.
So tune-in with us to watch the fighters hit the scale and see what kind of condition they’re in heading into this title fight.
