Those of you waiting for Oscar Valdez to face a true test are in luck. Eddie Hearn confirmed an ESPN report this evening claiming that a deal to pit WBO featherweight champ Oscar Valdez against Scott Quigg on March 10th is near completion.
I see the news breaking..correct-we are close to finalising a deal for @scottquigg to face @oscarvaldez56 for the World title..hopefully get it over the line, will be an unbelievable fight! #andthenew @SkySportsBoxing @CarlMoretti

Valdez (23-0, 19 KO) went from scoring five consecutive knockouts to winning a pair of competitive fights with Miguel Marriaga and Genesis Servania, the latter of whom handed Valdez the first knockdown of his career in the fourth round of their September fight. It’s not a whole lot of vulnerability, but it’s more than enough to add intrigue to a fight with Quigg (34-1-2, 25 KO), a former super bantamweight champ who has won three straight over middling competition since moving to 126.
BoxRec also lists Jessie Magdaleno on the show, possibly against the winner of Saturday’s fight between Cesar Juarez and Isaac Dogboe. If so, that would be a pretty damn great lineup for a free card.
