Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) will officially be making his return to the ring this spring where he’ll take on Phil Lo Greco (28-3, 15 KOs) on April 21 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Matchroom officially made the announcement on social media this morning.
Khan, 31, has been out of action since getting slumped by Canelo Alvarez in May 2016. After he regained consciousness he decided to have his hand operated on to fix a lingering injury, and then focused his attention on some entrepreneurial ventures and a stint on reality television.
His opponent, Lo Greco, is about what you’d expect for a bounce-back fight. His record isn’t awful, but he’s also proven that he’s not a real threat at the top of the welterweight division. Lo Greco has gone 3-3 in his last six fights, losing to Shawn Porter, Errol Spence, and Joseph Elegele. He most recently took a majority decision over Jesus Gurrola last summer.
Tickets for the fight are expected to go on general sale to the public on Wednesday.
