During this media scrum caught by Fight Hub TV, Vasyl Lomachenko takes some time to discuss what he sees happening in the near future for his boxing career...
Lomachenko on if he has any plans to move up to 140lbs:
“I stay 135. I’m focused in 135, because [when] I was a fought with Linares I feel he’s a bigger than me. So I stay 135. Because I think 135, it’s not my weight category now, but after one or two years it will be my weight category.”
On if he thinks he’ll be able to get a big lightweight fight with Mikey Garcia:
“Yeah. Yeah, of course! Yeah. But I hope and, you know, we can’t see now in the future because we have my next fight in December 8 with Pedraza. So after Pedraza we can talk about fight with Mikey.”
On if he feels his public profile has grown since his win over Linares and if he’s eager to take the next step by fighting someone like Garcia:
“Yeah, of course. I want this fight [with Garcia]. Every time I talk about this fight — I’m not a scared...I’m not a hiding. I always open, I always talking about top fighters. I always talking about my future fights, what I want, top fighters, big names...Every understands and every knows it depends not from athletes, it depends from promoters.”
