Roman Gonzalez-Pedro Guevara rebooked for December 8th

Cecilia Braekhus is expected to compete as well

Roman Gonzalez and Pedro Guevara, originally booked to duke it out on May 5th before time constraints intervened, are reportedly set to try it again on December 8th. The fight will be part of one of HBO’s final cards, which should also feature Cecilia Braekhus.

Gonzalez (47-2, 39 KO) returned to action after 12 months away this past September, smashing Moises Fuentes for his first knockout victory since 2015. The lower weight classes have a notoriously high turnover rate, so even though his status as an elite super flyweight remains in question, it was good to see “Chocolatito” unbroken.

Guevara (32-3-1, 19 KO) knocked out Akira Yaegashi for the WBC light flyweight title in 2014 and successfully defended it twice. He is 2-0 since a narrow loss to Ken Shiro, who went on to knock out his next three opponents. Super flyweight likely isn’t his ideal weight class, but as I said the first time these two were linked, it isn’t Gonzalez’s, either.

It’s not exactly the sort of blockbuster you’d think HBO Boxing would end on, but it’s a fun, competitive fight that should prove plenty entertaining.
