Claressa Shields kept her perfect record intact tonight on DAZN, dominating Hannah Rankin over 10 rounds of action to retain her middleweight world titles. Shields proved to just be too good for Rankin, and won on three official scores of 100-90. BLH also scored the fight a shutout for Shields, 100-90.
Shields, who got into a little bit of a war of word with Rankin proved that he has speed, power, and ferocity in the ring, mostly beating up Rankin. The one thing Rankin could match Shields with was her heart, as she never gave up on herself despite getting thoroughly outclassed.
As the rounds passed Shields continually landed clean right hands and left hooks that shook up Rankin at least a few times, but Rankin was still willing to mix it up and occasionally got in some clean shots of her own.
In the end Shields improves her record to 7-0 while Rankin falls to 5-3. In the post-fight interview Shields admitted her respect for Rankin for stepping up to the plate and said she believes she still has potential to come back a better fighter in the future.
