The World Boxing Super Series resumes today in Glasgow, as we’ll have a pair of fights in the 140 and 118 pound divisions, streaming live on DAZN at 3:00 pm ET.
In 140-pound action, Josh Taylor (13-0, 11 KO) will put his WBC silver title on the line against Ryan Martin (22-0, 12 KO) in a matchup of young, undefeated fighters. Taylor has proven himself at higher levels than Martin, which in turn puts some pressure on Taylor to perform again in this fight, but he’ll have home field advantage, too. It’s a chance for Martin to really break through and go from prospect to serious contender in a fairly wide-open division at the moment.
In the bantamweight division, Ryan Burnett (19-0, 9 KO) will defend his WBA “super world” title against Nonito Donaire (38-5, 24 KO). Burnett, from Belfast, will be closer to home than Donaire, which is an advantage. He’s also younger, fresher, and on a roll right now. Perhaps more important than anything, though, is the fact that the aging Donaire is moving down two divisions for this fight, his first fight at 118 since 2011.
