Tony Bellew is a lot of things, but he’s not intimidated by any fighter or any moment. And on Saturday, he takes the biggest swing of his career, facing undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Here’s what Bellew said, from Sky Sports:
“I have nothing to lose going into this fight, nothing whatsoever. He’s in with a shout of being the best cruiserweight of all time because he’s done what no other cruiserweight has ever done before - he’s holding all four belts and the Ring Magazine belt. I think he’s the most formidable fighter - one of them anyway - on the planet. He just keeps beating people easy, but one thing I will say, he ain’t beating me easy on Saturday night, he’ll have to work for it if he is going to win. He can get the win, but so can I.”
Bellew also says he simply and genuinely believes that at some point, he’s going to get to Usyk and score this monumental upset, and make no mistake, it would be a very big one. Usyk has largely dominated at cruiserweight thus far, Bellew is coming down in weight, and the odds are just all in Usyk’s favor.
But will he intimidate Bellew? I really don’t think so, and Bellew has said all along that that’s something in his favor.
