Canelo Alvarez is set for the first fight of his huge contract with streaming provider DAZN on Saturday, as the Mexican superstar moves up to the super middleweight division to challenge WBA “world” champion Rocky Fielding.
The fight is also Canelo’s debut at Madison Square Garden in New York, as he checks that off of his superstar fighter list, as well.
Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KO) is coming off of two fights with Gennady Golovkin, a controversial draw in Sept. 2017 and a controversial Canelo win in Sept. 2018, while Fielding (27-1, 15 KO) went to Germany and stopped Tyron Zeuge in his last outing on July 14.
The undercard will feature IBF super featherweight titleholder Tevin Farmer facing Francisco Fonseca; IBF/WBA lightweigh titlist Katie Taylor against Eva Wahlstrom; and explosive middleweight David Lemieux taking on Tureano Johnson.
