WBA “world” super featherweight titleholder Alberto Machado will make his next defense on Feb. 9 in Indio, California, when he takes on Andrew Cancio on a DAZN-streamed card, according to ESPN.

Machado (21-0, 17 KO) won his title in Oct. 2017, scoring an upset, come-from-behind KO over Jezreel Corrales, and defended the belt twice this year. In July, he wiped out Rafael Mensah, going the 12-round distance and winning every round, and then in October, he flattened Yuandale Evans with a first round knockout.

Cancio (19-4-2, 14 KO) is not really a serious contender at 130. In his biggest fight to date, he was stopped in nine by Joseph Diaz Jr back in Sept. 2016, after which he was out of the ring for about a year and a half before coming back in 2018 with wins over Aidar Sharibayev and Dardan Zenunaj. The 30-year-old has a big chance here, but odds are that he’s going to be overmatched.
