Kell Brook and Michael Zerafa both made weight and looked to be in good condition for their junior middleweight fight tomorrow night at Sheffield Arena. Kell Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) weighed in at a fit 150lbs, saying that he could still make 147lbs easily if he had to. Zerafa weighed in a little closer to the limit, coming in at 153lb. He too looked fit and ready to go.
Brook, 32, enters this fight coming off a knockout win over Sergey Rabchenko in March, following two stoppage losses where he had each of his eye sockets broken. Of course that was nothing a little titanium couldn’t take care of, and now Brook says he’s feeling completely refreshed and reinvigorated in his boxing career.
Meanwhile Zerafa, 26, is a relatively unknown fighter out of Australia. He’ll be taking quite the step up in this fight as he’s never faced an opponent the caliber of Brook, but really he’s been brought in to lose against Brook.
Brook had been looking forward to finally landing a big fight against bitter rival Amir Khan, but in recent days it seems like that fight still won’t be happening. Either way, Brook needs to take care of business this weekend if he wants to look towards any other big fights.
