Tomorrow night’s HBO Boxing After Dark tripleheader from Carson, Calif., is slated to be the final HBO boxing show ever, after the network and the sport have gone hand-in-hand for the last 45 years.
Cecilia Braekhus (34-0, 9 KO), considered the top women’s fighter in the world pound-for-pound, will defend her undisputed welterweight crown against Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO) in the main event. Braekhus weighed in at 146.8 pounds, with Lopes at 146.4.
Top super flyweight contender Juan Francisco Estrada (37-3, 25 KO) is set for action in a 10-round bout, taking on fellow Mexican fighter Victor Mendez (28-3-2, 20 KO). The contractual catchweight for the bout was 121 pounds, as the fight came together on short notice. Estrada weighed in at 120.4, with Mendez at 119.2.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and current WBC/IBF/WBA middleweight titleholder Claressa Shields (7-0, 2 KO) weighed in at 159.2, with challenger Femke Hermans (9-1, 3 KO) at 157.
