Omar Figueroa facing DUI charge ahead of Broner fight

While Adrien Broner is dealing with another bit of trouble with the law, having been arrested for misdemeanor sexual battery, his scheduled April 21 opponent Omar Figueroa is in trouble, too, facing a DUI charge in California.

From ESPN:

Figueroa, 28, of Weslaco, Texas, was arrested by the Indian Wells Police Department at 3:14 a.m. on Jan. 29, according to Riverside County’s online records and confirmed to ESPN by the county sheriff’s office.

Figueroa, listed at 5-foot-8, 170 pounds -- 30 pounds heavier than the contract weigh for the fight -- was booked into the jail at 6:28 a.m. Jan. 29 and released on his own recognizance.

Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KO) last fought in July 2017, stopping and retiring former multiple division titleholder Robert Guerrero in a three-round brawl, where Figueroa overwhelmed the veteran. His scheduled fight with Broner is to be a WBC eliminator at 140 pounds, a weight Figueroa hasn’t made in almost four years.
