Embattled junior welterweight Adrien Broner found himself making headlines this week for all the wrong reasons — this time by being accused of misdemeanour sexual battery for inappropriately touching a woman in an Atlanta mall.
After bonding out of jail Broner told a local news station (and social media) that he absolutely did not do what he's been accused of.
“I didn’t touch nobody,” Broner told Channel 2 Action News after being released from custody on Tuesday.
“She wanted to take a picture and I didn’t want to take a picture.”
Obviously at this stage we have little information about what happened aside from an accusation and a denial, but things will likely be clarified as time goes on. In any event, this will surely be an unwelcome distraction for Broner as he prepares to face Omar Figueroa Jr. in April (who also has his own issues to deal with).
Broner is most recently coming off a unanimous decision loss to Mikey Garcia last July, and says he's aiming to work his to the top. So far e're off to a tremendous start.
