Top super featherweight prospect Ryan Garcia will return to action on Thursday, March 22, when he headlines a Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN card from Indio, California.
Garcia, 19, is 13-0 (12 KO) thus far as a professional, looking like a real blue chipper. He’ll be facing veteran Fernando Vargas (32-13-3, 21 KO), who has lost two straight but will serve as a nice next step for Garcia, 10 years Vargas’ junior.
Garcia went 6-0 in 2017, last fighting on December 16. He’s considered one of Golden Boy’s real future stars.
The show will also feature a 10-round welterweight bout between former top prospect Eddie Gomez (20-3, 11 KO) and KeAndre Gibson (18-1-1, 7 KO). Gibson was stopped in four by Antonio Orozco last year, but has won two straight. Gomez has lost two of his last three.
Featherweight prospect Joet Gonzalez (18-0, 10 KO) will also be in action, taking on Rolando Magbanua (28-6, 20 KO).
