Cuban welterweight Yordenis Ugas made a statement tonight in the opening fight of Showtime's telecast, scoring a knockout win over Ray Robinson. Ugas showed early that he had the serious power advantage in this fight, moving Robinson around the ring every time he landed a shot.

Ugas then dropped Robinson in the opening frame, but Robinson hung in there, trying to use his boxing ability to keep Ugas at bay. That didn't work out for too long though, as Ugas would start finding a home for his right hook and ultimately crushed Robinson with that very same punch in the seventh round. Robinson was again dropped to the canvas, got up, but Ugas poured it on, not giving Robinson any time to recover.

Referee Robert Byrd was at that point forced to step in and call off the fight to protect Robinson. Robinson was obviously disappointed by the stoppage but it was a pretty good call considering the circumstances.
