Top Rank has signed Filipino featherweight contender Genesis Servania to a multiyear promotional agreement, seeing enough in the 26-year-old’s loss last year to Oscar Valdez to think he’s worth an investment.
The company announced the signing earlier today, and it was said that his first fight under the Top Rank banner will be announced soon.
“I am very excited about the fights ahead,” Servania said. “This motivates me to train even harder to make the most of the great chances and guidance Top Rank will provide. I believe that if I move forward step by step and do my best, I too will become a world champion.”
Servania (30-1, 13 KO) lost a decision to Valdez, the WBO featherweight titleholder, last September, on ESPN. But he was competitive in the fight, dropping Valdez in the fourth round, and made a solid impression in his U.S. debut. Clearly, Top Rank thought the same.
