Andre Ward gives Canelo the edge to beat Golovkin in rematch

Andre Ward gives his thoughts on the upcoming sequel to Canelo-Golovkin.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

Following HBO’s SuperFly 2 card, reporters caught up with Andre Ward to discuss his thoughts on the May 5th rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin. Check out what he had to say...

Ward on who he thinks wins the rematch between Canelo and Golovkin:

“I don’t know. I mean, I think on paper you, in some cases, you favor the guy with the greater imagination, the guy that has more tools in the toolbox — and that’s Canelo. Similar to me and Kovalev. We had a close fight the first time, the guy with the imagination took it to the next level. So you kinda assume that’s what’s gonna happen but you don’t know.

“I think Golovkin has a lot to prove and Canelo has a lot to prove so I’m excited about it from a fan standpoint. I wanna see it and hopefully it’s clear cut whatever happens.”
