While Murat Gassiev and Yunier Dorticos were battering each other, former Olympian Lawrence Okolie took on Isaac Chamberlain in a fight with its own hashtag: #BritishBeef.
It was not, as it turns out, wagyu-grade.
Okolie (8-0, 6 KO) outwrestled Chamberlain (9-1, 4 KO) over ten widely-reviled rounds, earning the WBA “Continental” heavyweight title. Rather than a link to clips of the fight, which saw Okolie score a knockdown and Chamberlain lose a point for holding, I’m going to offer some select cuts from Twitter.
#OkolieChamberlain that will go down in history as the worst BOXING main event in @SkySportsBoxing history

So, yeah, wasn’t great.
Elsewhere on the card, Ted Cheeseman (13-0, 8 KO) beat a four-pounds-overweight Carson Jones (40-13-3, 30 KO) for another WBA trinket, Joshua Buatsi (4-0, 3 KO) dispatched Jordan Joseph (7-2-1, 2 KO), and Gamal Yafai (14-0, 7 KO) got to slaughter a dude who was 4-16-1 coming in because that’s sportsmanlike I guess.
On the bright side, we’ve still got Ramirez-Ahmed tonight, so there’s that at least.
