Gassiev-Dorticos: The Day After (Video)

The WBSS unveils it’s video special documenting Gassiev-Dorticos and the aftermath.

Today the World Boxing Super Series released its latest installment of The Day After, showcasing the lead-up and fallout of Murat Gassiev vs. Yunier Dorticos, with tons of behind-the-scenes footage.

The video begins with footage from last Tuesday, interviewing Dorticos as he was preparing for the semifinal cruiserweight match. From there we segue into the media interviews and press conferences leading into the fight.

Then things really heat up with a recap of the fight itself, complete with clips taken from the fighter’s corners as they received instructions between rounds. Of course after Gassiev forced the stoppage of Dorticos, we get to see a broken fighter in the locker room, visibly distraught.

“I’m sad and I’m sorry,” Dorticos tells the camera. “I feel shameful as a sportsman. I’ll have to recover what’s mine.

“All this has been a fantastic experience. This is the best they’ve done for boxing since boxing’s been a bit fluffy, especially for my weight class of 200lbs. But there’s no turning point now. I have to start again and move on forward.”

Then, in a display of real class, Gassiev appears in Dorticos’ locker room and puts the belt back into his hands and gives him a hug. It’s truly a touching moment between two fighters who laid it all on the line.
