Danny Jacobs roulette continues, Maciej Sulecki reportedly now in line

Sulecki is ranked #1 by the WBC at super welterweight

Why the hell do I even bother.

Despite Spike O’Sullivan agreeing to terms to fight Danny Jacobs on April 28th, ESPN reports that Jacobs is “close to a deal” to fight Polish prospect Maciej Sulecki instead. The fight “could be closed this week.”

Sulecki (26-0, 10 KO) is without question an extremely good fighter, a former middleweight who dropped to 154 this year after tearing up Hugo Centeno Jr. His 3-0 2017 campaign saw him defeat Jack Culcay and become Jermell Charlo’s #1 contender. He’s also just behind Kanat Islam in the IBF rankings below Jarrett Hurd, so it’s not entirely clear to me why he’d jump back to 160 for a dangerous fight when he’s this close to challenging for a world title.

Loadsamoney, I guess.

Neither Jacobs, Katie Taylor, or Jarrell Miller yet have official opponents for the card, which takes place at Barclays Center. Might not want to procrastinate on that, gents.
