It’s just about that time! The World Boxing Super Series keeps it’s promotional train rolling as super middleweights George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr. get set to square off in a semifinals round next weekend in Manchester, England.
In this installment of the Road to London, we get a close look at both fighters as they head into the huge, highly anticipated match-up.
Eubank Jr. (26-1, 20 KOs) begins by talking about how he made a statement in his opening quarterfinals match against Avni Yildirim, knocking him out in three rounds.
“People, after that fight, I turned many haters, doubters, naysayers into believers,’ Eubank Jr. said. “So that was a big thing for me going into this first fight and making a statement. And not only a statement to the boxing public and the people that maybe doubt my abilities, but to the rest of the fighters in the tournament. I wanted them to understand that I’m the guy and I’m coming for everybody exactly the same way that I came for Avni Yildirim.”
We then get to see Eubank Jr. take spend some quality family time where his father, Chris Eubank Sr., was inexplicably wearing a police badge on the lapel of his blazer...Don’t ask.
Shortly thereafter we visit WBA champion George Groves (27-3, 20 KOs) in training camp.
“Right now I couldn’t be in a better place, I feel” Groves began. “I’m safe, I’m secure, I’m happy, I’m winning. You know, what more could I possibly ask for. I’m in a situation where, you know, I’m in this tournament and my life can change forever in a positive way, and that’s exciting for me...”
Both fighters then take a look at the tape from each other’s quarterfinals match and break down what they see in their opponent.
