Anthony Joshua's rise through the boxing ranks has been nothing short of phenomenal and according to British legend Frank Bruno, AJ's successor could eclipse the current unified IBF and WBA heavyweight champion.

Bruno, a British institution during the 1980s and 90s, believes that young prospect Daniel Dubois will outdo his fellow countryman Joshua.

And Dubois hasn't done things by the book, withdrawing from the GB squad for the 2020 Tokyo Games in order to turn professional — a break from the traditional path paved by previous top-class boxers, including Joshua, who won a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Bruno said:

"I think Daniel will be bigger than AJ."

"Daniel is keen, thirsty, eager to learn and a nice, level-headed guy."

Bruno, now 56 years old, has witnessed Dubois's first hand Peacock Gym in Canning Town, east London and explained:

"He is a very, very good prospect and only needs to stay on his game, focused and hungry."

20-year-old Dubois, along with Anthony Yarde and Joshua Buatsi, is among a new breed hungry British boxers who draw inspiration by Joshua’s mammoth achievements and are quickly progressing through the paid ranks.
