Coming off of a dominant win over Andre Dirrell on March 3, Jose Uzcategui is now targeting the top names in the super middleweight division, including titleholders Gilberto Ramirez and David Benavidez:
“I’m ready for the best in the division. I would like to face David Benavidez. I think that would be a great fight, and then against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez. I also think that would be another great fight for boxing fans.”
Uzcategui (27-2, 23 KO) is a hotter name than he’s ever been, so if the time has ever been right to strike on him, it’s now. A fight with Benavidez (20-0, 17 KO) would keep him within the PBC family (Ramirez is promoted by Top Rank), and is also a potential barnburner. Both are action fighters with power who look to finish.
What do you hope to see Uzcategui do next? Would one of these fights make the most sense?
