Today at 6 pm ET on HBO, Dillian Whyte and Lucas Browne square off in a heavyweight grudge match that follows a lot of trash talk from both sides, and hopefully will result in an action-packed fight between the two big fellas.
Whyte (21-1, 16 KO) hasn’t lost since being stopped by Anthony Joshua in December 2015, a run of six straight wins, and is hoping a victory will get him into the title picture in the renewed division. Browne (25-0, 22 KO) has never lost at all, and briefly held the WBA “world” title thanks to a 2016 win over Ruslan Chagaev, but he’s fought just once since then.
The winner will have Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker, and Deontay Wilder in his sights after this one. It’s an important fight.
The Sky Sports undercard airing in the UK also features a pair of British title bouts. Lewis Ritson defends the lightweight title against Scotty Cardle, and Frank Buglioni defends his light heavyweight belt against Callum Johnson.

- DILLIAN WHYTE def. LUCAS BROWNE BY KO (0:37 of Round 6)
ROUND BY ROUND
DILLIAN WHYTE vs LUCAS BROWNE
Round 1: Whylte lands a stiff jab, Browne tries to return the favor with a little less effect. Whyte trying to keep this fight at arm’s length early. Browne steps in with a left and right hook that Whyte catches on his guard. Two jabs land for Whyte, who then just misses on a big straight right hand. Right have over the top grazes Browne. Now Whyte gets in another right hand, Browne looks cut, and Whyte throws another just after the bell for good measure. Whyte 10-9.
Round 2: Browne comes out with a small glob of vaseline on that left eye. Whyte lands a right hook to the body and Browne grins. Two more hard body shots land clean for Whyte. Now Whyte gets in two shots upstairs and Browne is looking a little discouraged. Whyte lands yet another right hand over the top of his jab and Browne smirks. Whyte is beating Browne up early. Whyte 10-9, 20-18.
Round 3: I didn’t like Browne’s body language in between rounds. Browne circling the back of the ring and Whute comes forward with a right hand to the body and then a chopping one over the top. Browne’s eye is bleeding pretty badly and Whyte is picking him off with punches at will. Browne has zero defense, but has the nerve to complain to the referee about a shot behind the ear. Try putting your hands up, Browne! Now Browne tries to land some clubbing shots but Whyte stands his ground and trades some shots with Browne! Now Whyte is bleeding from the nose. Whyte still takes the round. Whyte 10-9.
Round 4: Whyte lands two jabs to start the round. Whyte lands another combination to the body and I really can’t think of someone I’ve seen so easily hit to the head and body at the same time. Like DAMN, Browne! Browne takes some more flush shots to the head and plows forward, getting pummled along the way. Another hard liver shot lands for Whyte, and this is quickly turning into the kind of fight that gets dangerous, with one fighter taking a beating but not going down. Whyte 10-9, 40-36.
Round 5: Browne’s left eye is all fucked up at this point. Whyte jumps on him with hard shots from both hands, but still mostly the overhand right that always finds the target. Whyte looks like he wants to close the show by adding in hard uppercuts to the head followed by hard hooks to the body. Browne looking a hot mess. This fight needs to get stopped ASAP. Browne still walking forward but whyte has landed 76 head shots to Browne’s 31 to this point in the fight. And that’s just the head shots! Whyte 10-9.
Round 6: Browne lookin’ like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. WHYTE STRAFES BROWNE WITH A COMBINATION AND KNOCKS HIM CLEAN OUT WITH A LEFT HOOK! HE’S OUT COLD! Whyte KO-6.
