In an interview with ESPN, middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin talks about what went through his mind when he fought out that Canelo Alvarez tested positive for Clenbuterol, which was revealed this week.

“My first reaction, you know, ‘Really?!’ like that. Just ‘Really?! Are you serious?!’ because, you know...I know him, he’s good boxer, you know. Maybe he’s extra boxer, not regular guy. I believe he doesn’t need medicals or like drugs, you know, like that...and right now, test positive, it’s terrible for sport...

“I respect my sport because I love clean sport. For me this is, you know, terrible. This is not laboratory, you know? This natural stuff. If you not believe your natural stuff, you use medicals...Right now he’s test positive, it’s crazy.

“You know, it doesn’t matter for me like, you know, medicals, or what kind of medicals, he’s test positive. That’s it!...I believe commission, he’s strong, you know? Only two: Yes or No...That’s it. It doesn’t matter.

“Yes, first time, yeah, I think ‘oh, really’, you know, fight’s canceled because so many moments, so many fighters who have test positive, you know, maybe couple months. You know, it’s problem.”
