Amir Khan returned to the ring today in Liverpool, England, but we didn’t get to learn much other than this: Amir Khan is, in fact, back.
It took Khan (32-4, 20 KO) just 39 seconds to stop Phil Lo Greco, as he returned after a two-year absence, and fought for the first time in five years in the United Kingdom.
Khan dropped Lo Greco (28-4, 15 KO) just 15 seconds into the fight with a right hand. Lo Greco never got a chance, as Khan dropped him again with a left uppercut and referee Victor Loughlin stopped the bout.
Whether or not Lo Greco was a serious opponent — and he wasn’t, in fairness — we did see clear focus and the old Khan speed at play, as he landed the couple of shots he wanted to land and took care of business.
There’s not a lot more you can say about a 39-second fight than this, but now the focus is on the future for Amir Khan, and that might be a big fight with Kell Brook later this year. Brook was in attendance at today’s fight.
