In what wound up a good, entertaining fight, Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas fought to a majority draw tonight in the Showtime main event from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Scores were 115-113 Broner, and two cards of 114-114 for the majority draw. BLH had it 114-114 and 115-113 for Vargas.
Broner (33-3-1, 24 KO) started slow, and Vargas (28-2-1, 10 KO) seemed to pile up points with a good body attack and more consistent work. But in the second half of the fight, Broner did get himself going somewhat, and landed some good, clean punches, busting Vargas open in the 11th round.
The two went to verbal war after the fight with Showtime’s Jim Gray trying to conduct his post-fight interviews, but none of it is really worth writing up. Vargas thought he won, Broner thought he won. Vargas said he’d do a rematch, and Broner said he would, too, but he wants it to be a home fight for him.
How did you score this one, and do you want to see them run it back?
