With both fighters having made successful comebacks, the idea of a Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight for later this year is on the minds of many. But Brook doesn’t think Khan actually wants the fight.
“I don’t think he fancies it. He can see in my eyes that I’m a possessed man. I’m hungry for blood. He knows that I’m coming to bring it. I’m no Lo Greco, I’m the Special One. I’m going in there to do some damage.”
Brook (37-2, 26 KO) came back to the ring on March 3 in Sheffield, annihilating Sergey Rabchenko in under two rounds. Khan (32-4, 20 KO) arguably did him one better in his comeback after a two-year absence, finishing Phil Lo Greco in 39 seconds on Saturday.
The two fighters have talked about a potential showdown for years now, but it’s never come particularly close to actually happening. The fight presents a lot of risk and reward for both at this point — they’re both in their early 30s now, have suffered some devastating setbacks, and have had this grudge in the media, again, for years at this point.
There’s no doubt it’s a big fight, and Brook seems desperate for it. Khan? Not so sure, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say he doesn’t want it. That’s for Brook to say as a taunt right now. Only time will tell if we get this fight while it’s still relevant.
