Gennady Golovkin talks about his upcoming May 5th fight against Vanes Martirosyan.

Gennady Golovkin fields media questions about his scheduled May 5th fight against Vanes Martirosyan...

Golovkin on how he thinks this fight plays out after sizing-up Martirosyan in person:

“You know, I feel he’s very comfortable, you know, just very relaxed. You know, he’s true guy, he’s not scared. He understands this business, he understand this sport, boxing.

“I believe this is not easy fight for both. You know, I believe he’s ready because he feel very comfortable and I believe we bring great [drama] show. You know I’m not sure — I don’t know long, short, nobody knows. Only God, he knows.

“I believe I’m ready, thank my team, you know, who support me, who help me. And I knew he’s team is very strong team...Vanes, you know, he’s from Cali. He know his town, his home...you know, just not easy.

On if Martirosyan felt strong when he shook his hand:

“Marcos, you know just...nobody easier like sissy boy who come into world championship fight. Everybody tough. Everybody tough!”

On if he had to bring in any different sparring partners to prepare for Martirosyan:

“Yeah, absolutely. Ask coach, he knows. My job just sparring...”

On how proud he is to be where he’s at in his career:

“I can’t lose this May 5th, you know, Cinco de Mayo...I don’t want to come into September like lose one year. For what? Because it’s not my fault. Right now middleweight division is very interesting, you know, so many peoples come. HBO said, you know, support middleweight division like couple pay-per-view fights, like just very interest right now. Just I’m very happy because I come into boxing again.”

On if it’s dangerous to take a fight on short notice:

“You know, this is life. Everyday dangerous!...In boxing, boxing is not game...Just one punch change life, seriously.”
